Introduction
A node license is sold as an NFT on the LFG launchpad. Buying one lets you run a node that supports a project's infrastructure and earns rewards for doing so. Sales are tiered, so the price rises as each tier sells out, and earlier buyers pay less. This guide walks through the purchase from start to finish. For background, see What is a Node? and the LFG Node Sales Program.
Before You Start
Have these ready before you open the sale page:
- A Web3 wallet. You need a wallet such as MetaMask to connect and pay. If you do not have one, see How to Set Up a Web3 Wallet (MetaMask).
- Funds in the accepted currency, on the right network. Node sales are paid in crypto, commonly a stablecoin like USDC or USDT, and the sale page lists which currencies it accepts. The node itself is an NFT minted on a specific network, so your funds need to be on that same network, plus a small amount of the network's gas token to cover the transaction. To move funds between networks, see How to Bridge Tokens to BNB Network.
- A referral code, if you have one. Optional, and you can also continue without one.
Before connecting your wallet anywhere, it is worth reading Staying Safe: Security and Scam Awareness so you can recognize fake sale pages.
Step 1: Open the Node Sale Page
Go to the official node sale page for the project you want to support, hosted on the LFG launchpad. Always reach it through an official link rather than a link from a DM or ad, and confirm the address is correct before you connect anything.
Step 2: Connect Your Wallet
Click Connect Wallet and approve the connection in your wallet. Make sure your wallet is set to the network the sale uses. A legitimate sale only asks you to approve the connection in your wallet. It never asks for your Secret Recovery Phrase.
Step 3: Choose Your Payment Method
Use the payment selector to pick the currency you want to pay in from the options the sale accepts. The page shows your balance for the selected token so you can confirm you have enough.
Step 4: Select Quantity and Review the Price
Set how many node licenses you want with the quantity selector. Check the current price and the drop schedule, which shows the active tier and how many licenses remain in it (for example, "6/100 remain"). When a tier sells out, the next tier opens at a higher price, so the figure you see is the current cost per node.
Step 5: Add a Referral Code (Optional)
If you have a referral code, enter it and press Apply. If you do not, choose to continue without one. Applying a valid code does not change these steps.
Step 6: Review and Accept the Terms
Read the linked Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then check the box to confirm you have read, understand, and agree, including the acknowledgment that a node license is not an investment and does not constitute financial advice. You must accept these before you can complete the purchase.
Step 7: Buy and Confirm in Your Wallet
Click Buy Now. Your wallet will open and ask you to confirm. Depending on the payment token, you may first approve the sale contract to spend that token, and then confirm the purchase itself. Approve the prompts and pay the small gas fee. Wait for the transaction to complete, which can take a moment depending on the network.
Step 8: Receive Your Node License
Once the transaction confirms, the node license NFT is minted to your wallet and will appear in your wallet's collectibles or NFT section. Note that some sales include a lock period before the NFT can be transferred. Check the project's FAQ for the specific terms.
After You Buy: Set Up Your Node
Owning the license is the first step. To start earning, you set up and run the node:
- Confirm your machine meets the hardware requirements.
- Most operators run on a server. See How to Set Up a VPS for LFG Node CLI.
- Install the software with Install LFG Node CLI on Ubuntu Linux, then add your node in the LFG Node Dashboard.
- If your node will not come online, see Node Troubleshooting: Offline or Not Reporting.
